PFMA chief urged to cancel appointment of Bilal Aslam

Action Committee Pakistan Flour Millers have urged the Central Chairman of Pakistan Flour Millers Association (PFMA) to cancel appointment of Bilal Aslam Sufi as honorary adviser to the chairman.
The committee has been formed by the flour milling sector representatives comprising over Central Secretary General Sheikh Muhammad Afzal, Central Executive Committee members and others including Khaliq Arshad, Sana Ullah Durrani, Sheikh Akhtar Hussein, Haji Maqsud Ahamd, Tariq Sadiq, Vice Chairman Lahore Division Mian Riaz, Vice Chairman (Rawalpindi) Abdur Rehman, former Vice-Chairman Lahore Division Haji Abdul Waheed and former Executive Committee member Sheikh Muhammad Khalid.
In a letter to Central Chairman Muhammad Naeem Butt, member of the Action Committee and Central Secretary General of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association Sheikh Muhammad Afzal has said that whole flour milling was disturbed over appointment of Bilal Aslam Sufi as advisor to the Association and requested the Chairman to run the affairs of the association in consultation with the members with consensus.
He said the PFMA was a national trade body working through a central executive committee under trade ordinance 1961. He said that appointment of an unelected person was equal to distrust in the elected members of the Association. He said that this decision of the chairman was damaging for the flourmilling sector as he should not supersede the executive committee.
He told the chairman to cancel this appointment. Action Committee member Khaliq Arshad has also told the chairman to question as to what Article of the Constitution he had appointed Bilal Sufi.
Meanwhile in a separate statement the Pakistan Flourmills Association Punjab Branch has hailed the Punjab government decision of fixing Rs 290 ex-mill and Rs 300 retail price for 20 kilogram flour bag.
In a meeting held here on Wednesday, Chairman PFMA, Punjab Branch has said that the Punjab government has increased the price of flour on the request of the association. He said that after increase in petroleum product rates and tariff of electricity increase in flour price is unavoidable. He said that central chairman of PFMA, Naeem Butt had also suggested to the Punjab government to fix the flour price in Punjab according to the other provinces.
He assured full cooperation of the association to the Punjab government in future as well. He further said that working relationship between Punjab government and association had improved and hoped that it would be further improve in the future.
