08 Mar, 2008

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother Shahbaz Shari are going to contest for national and provincial assembly seats from Lahore in bye-elections. This information was gathered from reliable sources of PML-N here on Friday.
The senior Sharif according to information would contest from NA-123. This seat was recently won by Javed Hashmi senior leader of PML-N who defeated Aziz-u-Rehman President PPPP Lahore and others in election on February 18, 2008.
In previous national election Nawaz Sharif was returned elected from areas of central city Lahore. Despite long absence of former prime minister from Pakistan, Lahore has proved to be the citadel of his and it is likely that if law permits he would win the election to national assembly seat in Lahore with thumping majority.
The younger Sharif former Chief Minister of Punjab who has the reputation of being a good administrator according to party sources would vie for the provincial assembly seat PP-154.
The election to this seat was abandoned after killing of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Asif Ashraf. Shahbaz Sharif after getting acquitted honourably from a criminal case recently is likely to have no legal obstacle blocking his way in contesting election anymore. He is also expected to win from this seat comfortably.
