Early consensus on major national issues urged

The next government with PPP and its coalition partners should now focus on consensus on major national issues rather than confrontation with the President, said president Tehrik-e-Istaqlal (TI), Rehmat Khan Vardag.
Talking to APP on phone, he said main cause of concern for the masses is rising inflation, which is linked to the energy sector. "What we need on priority is new dams to provide affordable electricity to feed all national sectors, which will also serve to bring down prices in all areas," he observed.
Vardag hailed the announcement about the reinstatement of deposed judges, but urged Asif Zardari, Mian Nawaz Sharif and all other political leaders to hold urgent meetings to form a consensus and announce an agreement to initiate work on the Kalabagh and other dam projects in the first 10 days of their government.
