Kamal pays surprise visit to KIHD

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal paid a surprise visit to Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) to review the construction work of 5-storeyed building under phase II of the project. During his visit, he also met patients and inquired about their welfare.
On the occasion, Nazim Karachi directed the contractor firm to gear up pace of construction to ensure its early completion. He said he would now visit site even during nights to check the pace of work. He pointed out that KIHD was established by City District Government as second institute of heart diseases after NICVD.
The 120-bed hospital has all necessary heart treatment facilities like angiography, angioplasty at rates much cheaper as compared to other hospitals. After completion of phase-II, he said, this hospital will have a new surgical unit for children heart diseases - facility of one of its kind in Pakistan.
Mustafa Kamal said that besides constructing roads and bridges, the city government is also focusing on providing better education and health facilities to citizens and spent billions of rupees during the last 2 years to upgrade these facilities.
On the directive of City Nazim, KIHD started functioning on August 26, 2006. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the hospital provides 24-hour services to heart patients which include computerised ECG, Echo Cardiography, ETT, Blood Pressure Monitoring and Nuclear Cardiology.
