Bus travel ordeal

11 Mar, 2008

As the population of the city is increasing the people are facing more and more problems each and every day. One of these problems is transportation. Most of the people have to rely on public transport to travel. But travelling in public buses/mini-buses is a story of hell.
Getting on a bus is itself a difficult task rather than travelling in it, jerking and falling left/right, forward/backward on other passengers trying to keep the balance and stand on your own feet. If you find a vacant seat you are lucky.
Because travelling while sitting is fifty percent easy than standing, clinging to a rod, which itself could be broken due to the pressure of so many passengers. For travellers who are short in height travelling in a bus is a terrifying experience as they have nothing to hold themselves on.
The overall condition of the buses is very shocking as every bus seems to be of 1854 model and the bus owners made different changes in them according to their needs. Therefore, every bus has its own model especially the seats are in a very bad condition, with torn cushion covers and nails that causes injuries to the passengers other than spoiling clothes and the valuables you carry.
The government must make rules and regulations to update the buses and make sure that the bus owners do it on regular basis. Bus owners increase fares whenever oil prices increase but do not bother to improve the condition of the buses from which they are earning. All buses emit black smoke which poses threat to health and environment.
