Sheikh Nahayan donates $1 million to NCHD

Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak AL-Nahayan, Minister for Higher Education and also Patron of Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF) announced donation of one million dollars to National Commission for Human Development (NCHD)/PHDF at the recently concluded strategic planning retreat of NCHD held in Abu-Dhabi.
"I was deeply touched to the NCHD school in a remote area while driving in the desert of Sindh", said Sheikh Nahayan. Pakistan is moving in the right direction and education is the key for development and prosperity" Sheikh Nahayan added.
According to the press release, the two day strategic planning retreat of NCHD/PHDF was attended by large number of board members from all over the world and reviewed the progress of NCHD from its inception till to date. The board of directors expressed their satisfaction with the results achieved so far and hoped that this public-private initiative will definitely help Pakistan to achieve universal literacy and other millennium development goals.
Two new board members Dr Safdar Abbasi from Los Angles and Ashraf Hamdani from Florida also gave donation of one hundred thousand dollars each beside Pervaiz Lodhie, Najeeb Ghauri and Shoaib Khotwala announcing their second donation of one hundred thousand dollars again.
NCHD/PHDF has so far succeeded in raising 26 million dollars globally for grassroots projects in NCHD in Pakistan including UPE, adult literacy, primary healthcare and women empowerment. Presently NCHD operational in 114 district of Pakistan as well as Fata, Fana and AJK with nearly 220,000 community feeder schools and over 120,000 adult literacy centres all over Pakistan.
