Provincial Minister for Education and Minorities Affairs Dr Mira Phailbus on Thursday met caretaker Chief Minister Ejaz Nisar to discuss current reforms in the education sector and minority affairs in the province. While talking to the minister, the chief minister said the caretaker government has ensured continuity of projects in education sector.
He also said strengthening of education sector is of key importance with regard to elimination of poverty and extremism as well as socio-economic development therefore, the government is giving top priority to promotion of education. The government measures for strengthening of education sector are resulting in achieving socio-economic targets beside promotion of education, he added.
He said effective system of monitoring had resulted in attaining desired results of education programme. Teachers play basic role regarding education and training of new generation, therefore, the government is paying special attention to provision of professional training to the teachers. Media should play its due role for creating awareness among people with regard to social development and education.
The minister said that under the Education Sector Reforms Programme, provision of necessary education facilities in schools has been ensured. She said enrolment of female students in schools has increased as a result of provision of stipends to girl students in backward areas, which will result in expediting the process of progress of women. "Punjab Education Foundation is playing an important role regarding provision of financial assistance and professional training to teachers of private schools," she added.
