Chairman LPG Distributors Association Pakistan Muhammad Irfan Khokhar has said that the price of liquefied petroleum gas has been curtailed by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 65 to Rs 55 per kg.
With this reduction, which will come into force from Monday, the price of a domestic cylinder will come down to Rs 649 from Rs 767 and commercial cylinder to Rs 2,497 from Rs 2,951, he told reporters at the concluding ceremony of CNG, LPG exhibition at Fortress Stadium here Sunday.
He said that people will witness a drastic reduction in LPG prices in the month of April. LPG will prove to be an alternative fuel of CNG and diesel in future, he added.
He said that due to constant rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and reduction in the reservoirs of natural gas, there is an urgent need to promote LPG as an alternate fuel in the country.
He said, at present, the total production of LPG is 1,650 tons per day and the government could easily increase 900 tons per day in just three months. If it is not possible for the government immediate, it could solve the problem by allowing duty free import of LPG, Khokhar said.
