Warsak Power House: Wapda chief for early completion of repair work

Wapda Chairman Shakil Durrani has directed the project officials to complete the annual maintenance and rehabilitation of Warsak Power House prior to summer sets in, so that the power house could generate electricity to its maximum.
He expressed these views during his visit to Warsak Dam. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that Warsak Dam has been significantly contributing in the national economy since 1960s. Being the oldest hydropower station in Pakistan, Warsak Power House can be termed as a hydel university, he added.
The Chairman appreciated the efforts made by the experts for rehabilitation of the project, especially for the repair work on spillway basin of gate No 6 and asked the project officials to closely monitor its efficiency after passing the flood waters, so that repair of other basins of same spillway also be undertaken effectively.
Later, the Chairman visited control room and powerhouse of the project and witnessed the ongoing work on Unit No 4. He directed that the completion of repair work on cutting of generator floors of the remaining three machines be ensured on priority.
Warsak Dam Resident Engineer Karamat Ali Shah briefed the Chairman that Wapda experts are rehabilitating the power generation capacity of the project, which was lost due to the sedimentation in the reservoir. The Warsak Power House, with a generation capacity of 240 MW, is currently generating 140 MW of electricity, he added.
