Call to initiate collective efforts for water conservation

Human rights and civil society activists have called for initiating collective efforts for water conservation. They were addressing at a seminar on "Engaging Women, Youth and children", which was organised by Hissar Foundation in connection with World Water Day at local hotel on Saturday.
Chairperson Hisaar Foundation Simi Kamal said that Pakistan is suffering from distribution inequalities, water pollution, loss of ecosystems and the generation of effluents.
Water shortage in the country is severe that Pakistan is categorised as a country under water stress, with less per capita availability then the African countries such as Libya and Algeria, she maintained. She said that seminar was focused on the role of women, youth and children in conserving and better managing water.
Anisa Haji, Farzana Ahmed and other also addressed the moot. They urged the government to enforce globe principles regarding water issues. They said that the issue of water scarcity could be solved if water is recycled for agriculture and industry purposes. A large number of students from Behbud school, Nasra primary school, The AMI school and Generation school were participated in the programme.
