Following the escape of a large number of deportees from the Jinnah International Airport (JIA) last week, the security system at all airports in the country is being streamlined to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.
A meeting was organised in this connection by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on last Wednesday at JIA to discuss security issues with all other stakeholders to stall lapses which had resulted in the escape of under-custody deportees.
Pervez Akhter, Chief of Security, CAA headquarters, chaired the meeting, which was attended by airport managers, representatives of Airports Security Force (ASF), general aviation operators and flying clubs.
Stressing the importance of security Chaudhry Arshad said that it should be a collective effort of all stakeholders of aviation industry to provide safe and secure airports for the travellers.
Security issues raised by the participants were debated and decisions taken to rectify the concerns expressed at the meeting. It was decided that such meetings would be held on regular basis under the auspices of CAA.
It was proposed that committees should be formed at all airports to meet under the chairmanship of airport managers. These committees would consist of representatives of ASF and general aviation operators. These committees would take up and evaluate all security issues on monthly basis and implement measures for improvement.
