Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Assembly Speaker-designate, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that the wheat crisis has to be tacked on war-footing basis as some elements were attempting to further aggravate the present wheat crisis in the country, especially in Sindh province.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Khuhro said that people in general and growers in particular would suffer gravely if the devastative policies of the former regime were not replaced with people's friendly policies. He criticised the fixation of support price of what at Rs 510 per mound, which seems not attractive as growers are finding it hard to sell their agro-product on unaffordable rates.
Nisar Khuhro said that due the unattractive support prices of wheat, the Food Department go-downs are looking empty while hoarders and black-marketers were selling out hoarded wheat at Rs 670 to 700 per mound that aggravating sky-rocketing the wheat flour prices.
