The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is organising a two-day training and awareness workshop on agricultural credit at Rawalakot Azad Kashmir with the collaboration of Habib Bank Ltd. According to a press release here by SBP office Muzaffarabad, the training workshop will be held on March 25 and 26, at a local hotel.
The program will be inaugurated by AJK University Vice Chancellor Dr Habi-ur-Rehman, and will conclude with his field visit on March 26. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by farmer associates, elected representatives, Chamber of Agriculture, senior bank officials and financial institutions of the area.
The program is being organised as a part of SBP campaign to create awareness amongst the farming rural community about financing facilities. The SBP press release said the training and information dissemination programs, being held across the country, would help SBP to achieve the targets.
According to the details, the senior officials of the SBP and commercial banks will give the detailed presentations on prudential regulations for agriculture financing, crop credit insurance and marketing of agriculture finance products and services. Field visit of Rawalakot Agriculture University, which is scheduled on March 26, would provide an opportunity to SBP officials and commercial bankers to have first hand information regarding the issues and problems faced by the farming community in accessing institutional credit.
Whereas, it will also provide an opportunity to the farmers to interact with the banks and develop better understanding of different agriculture credit products being offered by the banks besides getting their problems resolved on the spot.
