Kaski District Football Association (KDFA) has formed 51-member committee for the upcoming Nepal-Pakistan friendly international clash being held in Pokhara Stadium on 26th and 28th March respectively. Muhammad Essa-led Pakistan national football team will leave here for Kathmandu via Karachi on Monday (March 24).
The track record of international soccer matches between Pakistan and Nepal commenced in 1982 when current South Asian Football Federation (Saff) and All Nepal Football Association (Anfa)'s President Ganesh Thapa played as player against Lala Akbar Raisani-led Pakistan at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi, a spokesman of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said.
It will be fourth visit of Pakistan to Nepal. On previous three occasions they tackled Nepal at Tripureshwor's Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu. The first meeting between two at Dasarath took place in 1987 during two-legged Seoul Olympics Qualifiers. The first match ended 2-2 while Nepal won the second leg 1-0 to wrap up the tie 3-2 on aggregate. Pakistan caused sensational 2-0 win over Nepalese when Anfa hosted third Saff Championship in 1997 but two years later Nepal forced revengeful 3-1 win in 8th SAF Games soccer event.
The KDFA formed the committee under the leadership of Ganesh Bhattarai who is also the central committee member of Anfa. KDFA member Dinesh Shrestha is sub co-ordinator.
