Taiwan's export orders in February hit 25.88 billion US dollars, up 18.08 percent from a year earlier on strong global demand for electronics products, the government said Monday. However, the February figure was lower than 30.31 billion dollars in January on less working days as the Lunar New Year holiday fell in the month, the economics ministry said.
In the first two months of the year, Taiwan took in export orders worth 56.19 billion dollars, up 17.43 percent from the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, industrial output in February was down 15.63 percent from January in reflection of the new year holiday, but up 15.22 percent year-on-year, the ministry said. For the first two months of the year, the industrial output index rose 13.41 percent from a year earlier.
