Increased fees of DMC

30 Mar, 2008

The new principal of the Dow Medical College has increased the fees of 4th year students to yearly Rs 15,550/-, this is too much. Initially in 1st year they took Rs 6000/-, later in 2nd year it rose to Rs 8,500/-, in third year it came down to Rs 2500/-.
In Punjab and NWFP, the fees is Rs 300/- per month. But why can't it be the same in Karachi. The above formulae is not adopted, you may charge Rs 500/- per month fees from students. Means Rs 6000/- per year, but not any more at any cost. The Principal of the college has also been changed. The former principal was a reasonable person.
I would ask the Principal why do you write the name of your College, Dow Medical College and University. Whereas, University has provision of M.R.C.P. and specialisation of Degrees such as specialiation in Head Diseases, Chest and abdomen Diseases, in Bones, in General Diseases, etc which will come under the head of M.R.C.P. The principal Kindly clarify that why the word University, is being used with the college name when it only provides 5-year M.B.B.S. course nothing and else.
