Acute wheat shortage in southern Punjab

Wheat crisis has become acute in southern Punjab including Multan, Bahawalpur, D G Khan and other cities. People have been wandering here and there in search of flour but in vain. Hoarders are again taking the advantage and they have earned millions within few days. 20 kg flour sack is selling at about Rs 450 in black.
Long queues are again seen outside the utility stores. Shopkeepers said that flour mills have suspended supply. Citizens have demanded from the government to ensure the supply of wheat at official rates. According to the food department, stock of wheat till April 15 is available and mills are bound to sell the wheat at old rates.
