The Saudi Consulate here has resumed issuance of Umrah visa, which had remained suspended due to technical problems. According to details available here on Saturday, virus had hit the computers in the visa section of the consulate, which brought the issuance of visa to closure.
However, Dr Hasan Attar, Consul-General of Saudi Arabia in Karachi, worked on emergency basis to ensure normal working of the computers. The job was completed in record time and all applicants who had applied for umrah visa were issued the required visas with efficiency and speed.
Mohammad Naeem Sharrif, Chairman, Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP), has appreciated the dedication with which Dr Attar and the consulate staff worked day and night to clear the visa backlog. Applications had piled up because of the fault in the computers. He thanked the Consul-General for issuing thousands of umra visas and helping the pilgrims to proceed to the Holy land for the performance of Umrah.
