Some 14,933 deserving persons in the district would be benefited from the Food Support Programme under which they would get staple food items with the grant of Rs 44.799 million already allocated for the purpose. District Nazim, Pakpattan, Rao Naseem Hashim Khan said this while addressing a meeting of the support programme's standing committee here on Saturday.
He said that another 5,500 deserving persons in the district would get benefit from the support programme, and instructed the postmasters to open more centres in their post offices for deserving people. The official warned that all aspects of the Food Support Programme were being monitored and strict action would be taken in case of any malpractice or corruption. District In-charge Bait-ul-Maal, Pakpattan Saeed Ahmad Sindho, Post Master General, and others attended the meeting.
