The spokesman of Karachi University has announced on Sunday that University of Karachi will remain closed on April 7 (Monday). He said a decision to this effect was taken by Vice-chancellor of Karachi University, Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, following a meeting on Sunday, which was attended by senior officials of the University's management and faculty.
The spokesman further said that the meeting chaired by the vice-chancellor, reviewed the law and order situation at the campus in the wake of Saturday's clash between the rival groups of students and the incident of firing. He said the meeting noted with concern the incident of clash and firing at the campus.
The participants of the meeting commended the efforts of the senior teachers for bringing the situation under control.
They also pointed out that the presence of Rangers played an instrumental role in the maintenance of peace and tranquillity at the campus and with their cooperation, normalcy would be brought back. The spokesman further said that in view of the prevailing security situation at the campus, the University of Karachi will remain closed on Monday.
