Caretaker government and Speaker responsible for unrest in Sindh Assembly: PPP

07 Apr, 2008

Leader of PPP parliamentary party in the Sindh Assembly Pir Mazharul Haq has said that the caretaker government and Speaker Muzaffar Hussain Shah were responsible for poor arrangements in the Sindh Assembly on the occasion of members' oath-taking the other day.
Talking to a private TV channel he said that it was the responsibility of the caretaker government to make proper arrangements for the day. Similarly, he said that Muzaffar Hussain Shah as Speaker did not realise his responsibility and left all the arrangements to the lower staff of the assembly.
To a query the PPP leader said that passes for witnessing the assembly proceedings were issued more than the capacity, which also caused pandemonium in the assembly. Besides, right from the gate to the inside of the assembly there was no security. He said that the Speaker should hold meeting with the administration one day before the oath-taking session and should arrange security.
To another question he said the PPP leaders can ask their party workers to observe discipline but they can't ask outsiders to be silent, adding that most of the visitors were not the party workers but had come to disturb the house proceedings.
Pir Mazharul Haq said that after coming into power the Speaker of their party would maintain discipline in the house besides controlling law and order situation in the province.
