The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is holding its sixth convocation on April 07, 2008 at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad.
Speaking at the full-dress rehearsal of the convocation held on Sunday, the Director Academics, IIUI, Gulzar A Khawaja said that the university is proud of delivering the best to its graduating students, who are the real asset of the nation. I
1936 students will receive their degrees during this convocation. Out of them 816 are female, 1120 male and 87 foreigners including 13 females. Out of these graduates, 32 belong to the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation while 275 from Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences. 104 are from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Usuluddin), 106 from Faculty of Languages, Literature and Humanities, 569 from Faculty of Management Sciences, 279 from Faculty of School of Economics, 307 from the Faculty of Shariah and Law and 173 from Faculty of Social Sciences.
88 graduates will receive Gold Medals in the convocation for excellent academic performance. Five of the gold medallists are from the Faculty of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation while seven from Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences. Eight are from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Usuluddin), four from Faculty of Languages, Literature and Humanities, fifteen from Faculty of Management Sciences, six from Faculty of Shariah and Law and four from Faculty of Social Sciences.
Further, he said that among the gold medallists, 28 are female students. Sofia Malik of the Faculty of Shariah and Law is being awarded double gold medals.
The IIUI has a total of 12, 500 students including 8000 male, 1500 overseas and 4500 females. The students' community represents more than 40 countries of the world with teaching staff from about 17 countries.
