Germany's winter wheat crop for harvesting in summer 2008 is expected to rise 13.9 percent on the year to 23.6 million tonnes, the association of German farming co-operatives said on Monday. The harvest of grains of all types is forecast to rise 13.2 percent on the year to 45.7 million tonnes, it said.
The reasons included expanded grain plantings as farmers sought to profit from high prices coupled with a mild winter which has raised prospects for good yields, the association said.
