Karachi quarters: no decision on ownership rights: spokesman

A spokesman of Ministry of Housing and Works has clarified a news item appearing in a section of the press regarding issuance of eligibility certificates to the occupants of government quarters in Karachi.
The spokesman clarified that ownership eligibility certificates issued without lawful authority to the residents of government owned residential accommodation does not offer any of the residents of government accommodation in Karachi.
He clarified that certificates of entitlement were to the purpose of identification only. He made it clear that the matter in year 2006 relating to the issuance of eligibility certificates to the occupants of government quarters in some colonies in Karachi was under consideration in the Ministry of Housing and Works when, without approval of the quarters concerned ownership eligibility were issued to the residents.
The spokesman further said that it has come to the knowledge of Ministry of Housing and Works that sale/purchase deeds are being made on the basis of these eligibility certificates which is illegal and all concerned are hereby advised not to enter into any transaction of sale/purchase of government accommodation on the basis of these certificates as the ownership rights of these quarters have not been decided as yet.
