Irri, basmati rates sharply rise on grain market

Upward trend persisted on the grain market on Thursday as rice and wheat prices failed to resist further rise, dealers said. On the rice sector, Irri-9 Punjab gained Rs 300 to Rs 4400-4500, Basmati/D-98 Shahadadkot followed suit and gained Rs 200 to Rs 5000 and basmati (broken rice) low type gained Rs 300 to Rs 300.
While the other maintained the overnight level in process of trading, they said. On the seed side, til qouted at Rs 4900-5200, cottonseed oilcake with bag good type rose by Rs 5 to Rs 795 and the inferior type retained the overnight level during the day, they said.
