The government has changed the date for filing of monthly withholding tax statement from 15th to 10th of each month. The FBR has amended Income Tax Rules, 2002 through a notification issued on Thursday.
According to FBR, the SRO 353 (I)/2008 has been issued to reduce the pressure from e-portal as there was same date for e-filing of monthly sales tax returns as well as income tax withholding statement.
The similar dates for both these categories of taxpayers had slowed down the whole process of filing returns, electronically. The change in filing date of withholding tax statement will ease the pressure on e-portal facilitating the taxpayers. Now, the monthly statement of tax collected or deducted has to be submitted within 10 days of the end of each month.
