FCA meeting on April 24

The meeting of the Federal Committee on Agriculture (FCA) under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal), Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would be held here on April 24 to review the Rabi crop production position of wheat and set targets for Kharif crops.
It would also review the overall position of agriculture outputs and data in Rabi crops and set a target for the Kharif production of rice, cotton and sugar, Agriculture Development Commissioner Qadir Bux Baloch told APP here on Friday. He said that provincial ministers for agriculture and secretaries, and federal secretaries are likely to attend the meeting.
He said the government had set a target of 24 million tonnes of wheat for current financial year and expressed the hope that more than 22 million tonnes of wheat would be achieved for this year. Baloch said that harvesting in Sindh had started and up to April 8, 44,000 tonnes of wheat has been procured in the province.
He said that FCA meeting would also be attended by representatives from federal and provincial agriculture departments, Indus River System Authority (Irsa) and Ministry of Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) where the targets for the Kharif crops of cotton, rice, and sugar would be set.
