PML-N chief whip denied separate chamber in Parliament

12 Apr, 2008

The National Assembly Secretariat has refused to allot a separate chamber to the chief whip of PML-N parliamentary party Sheikh Aftab. He has informed party leader Mohammad Nawaz Sharif about the situation. The issue will now be raised with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Party chief Nawaz Sharif had nominated MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmad as chief whip of the parliamentary party, who had in writing requested Speaker Fehmida Mirza for allotment of a separate chamber in the Parliament House along with staff so that he could perform his duty smoothly.
The Speaker sent the application to the National Assembly Secretary. However, it has been revealed that the assembly secretariat has turned down his request. Talking to NNI Shaikh expressed the hope that the matter would be resolved amicably.
