Lawyers urged to remain calm, united

The recent incidents in Lahore and Karachi are part of a conspiracy to discredit the peaceful lawyers' movement, and lawyers need to remain calm, patient and united at this point to foil these nefarious attempts. Human Rights Body Chairman Advocate Tariq Sharif stated this at a press conference here on Friday.
He said lawyers could never stoop to beating up people, and it was amazing that they were also being accused of beating and killing members of their own community. "We have suffered so much so patiently for over a year, and are close to achieving our goal to restore the deposed senior judges, so why should we jeopardise our movement now?" he added. He said the terrible incidents in Karachi and Lahore were the brainchild of forces who did not wish to see an independent judiciary or democratic norms established in the country.
