A former president of Supreme Court Bar Association and prominent lawyer Munir A Malik has said that supporters of President Pervez Musharraf are behind the conspiracy against lawyers' movement. In an interview with BBC, he said that it was a conspiracy of Presidency against the democratic forces, and added that the Presidency did not want democratic system in the country.
"There is no doubt that some lawyers were involved in the Lahore incident," he said. He said that the protectors of status quo wanted to suppress the lawyers' movement by force but "we want silent revolution through speeches and peaceful struggle".
He said that black sheep and informers are always present in every section of the society. "I did not deny that elements behind the manhandling of Dr Sher Afgan were not part of our struggle and they are fifth columnists of the lawyer community."
