Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will be the chief guest at the Lahore Chamber Achievement Awards 2008, being organised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in first week of June this year.
The LCCI president Muhammad Ali Mian revealed this while addressing a press conference here on Friday. LCCI senior vice president Mian Muzaffar Ali, vice president Shafqat Saeed Piracha, LCCI achievement awards committee chairman Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and Piaf chairman Mian Abuzar Shad were also present on the occasion.
About the upcoming event and its background, he said that in 2005, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry took the initiative to recognise the services of the businessmen of this great Lahore city who are contributing to the national exchequer in a big way. He said this was the beginning of LCCI Achievement Awards and the response was marvellous as not only the business community but the government circles also lauded the LCCI for giving due recognition to the business community of Lahore. He said that LCCI Achievement Awards 2008 is the fourth function in a row.
The LCCI Achievement Awards Committee Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Arshad briefed the press media about criterion set for the selection of the award winners which include investment during the financial year 2006-07, turnover during financial year 2006-07, establishment of new units during financial year 2006-07, percentage increase in export/trade turnover during the last three years, tax paid by the company or group of companies (where the contestant has more than 51 percent shareholding), dividend declared to shareholders during financial year 2006-07 and research & development during financial year 2006-07.
