The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed District Returning Officers, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers to hold election in 38 National and Provincial Assemblies constituencies.
According to an Election Commission notification, these Officers have been appointed for polling in eight National Assembly constituencies and 32 Provincial Assemblies constituencies. Out of the eight National Assembly constituencies, polling will he held in two constituencies for the first time, and a bye-election in six constituencies.
In Provincial Assemblies constituencies, fresh polling will be held in five Punjab Assembly constituencies and three NWFP Assembly constituencies while bye-election will be held in 12 Punjab constituencies, three Sindh, four NWFP and three Balochistan Assembly constituencies.
The Chief Election Commissioner, in line with arrangements for polling and bye-polling in these constituencies, has appointed members of judiciary to conduct the elections. He has appointed these Officers in pursuance of the provisions of Section 7 of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 (LXXXV of 1976), read with Section 18 that empowers him to fill the vacant posts of National and Provincial Assemblies.
