Payment of sugarcane growers' dues demanded

Sindh Chamber of Agriculture has called for payment of outstanding dues of sugarcane growers by the management of sugar mills. In this connection a meeting of the executive committee of SCA made a plea to the Chief Minister to intervene.
The meeting was presided over by Senior Vice President of the Chamber Mir Murad Ali Khan Talpur. The meeting also called upon the government to ensure the dues' payment according to the officially fixed rate of Rs 63 per maund. The meeting also called upon the government to convene an agriculture conference to ascertain the growers' issues including acute shortage of water, interruption in power supply and sale of substandard and fake fertilisers and pesticides as well increasing unemployment and unrest in the province.
The meeting also called upon the government to issues directives to banks for grant of loan to livestock owners for promotion of dairy farming and establishment of milk plants in the province.
