Teradata IT Excellence awards ceremony held

The federal government has planned to bring the information and communication technology education in the country in line with the industry requirements. This was stated by Mian Reza Rabbani, Leader of the House in Senate at the 8th Teradata National IT Excellence awards ceremony, held at a local hotel here on Saturday.
In his keynote address, Rabbani said that the government of Pakistan is striving to promote IT and has also taken various revolutionary steps in this connection such as formulation of IT policy, waiver of taxes for software houses, major scholarships in IT education and training, cheaper bandwidth rates, etc.
He lauded the efforts of Teradata, saying that "I am glad to see the commitment of the company to introduce new technology, education programmes and investment for the progress and development of IT sector in the country."
Managing Director, Teradata Pakistan, Khurram Rahat said that the company takes immense pride in hosting the IT excellence as this is a novel way of recognising people in the IT industry at the national level who have made remarkable and outstanding contribution for the cause of IT in Pakistan.
The winners of the awards are Atif Ahmed in IT Business Intelligence category, Usman Y Mobin in Software Development, Salim Ghauri in Software Export, Ashfaq Ahmed in Internet Working, Ehtasham Shahid in Project Management, Dr Habiullah Jamal in IT Education, Shahzid Akhtar in IT Research and Development, Muhammad Wajahat Hussain in Best IT Student, Mirza Muzammil Baig in IT Media and Publication and Syed Ammar Hussain Jaffri was awarded lifetime achievement award.
