RCO holds talks with Tori tribes for ceasefire in Kurram Agency

Regional Coordination Officer (RCO), Kohat region Umar Khan Afridi Sunday visited Parachinar, Headquarter of Kurram Agency, and held talks with the elders of Tori tribes for brokering ceasefire between the rival groups.
Sources and insiders in the jirga informed that the talks were held in peaceful atmosphere where both sides expressed their great desire to make joint efforts to bring peace back to the trouble areas of the violence-hit Agency.
The Tori tribesmen assured the RCO that they would fully cooperate with the government and law enforcing agencies in its efforts to bring durable peace to the Kurram Agency.
The elders of Tori tribes had shown willingness to vacate trenches on hilltops if the rival group also shown the same gesture, the sources informed. The RCO after holding talks with Tori tribes will now hold talks with the elders of Mingal and other tribes.
The visit of RCO Umar Afridi was a part of the efforts of Government and Political Administration of Kurram Agency to engage local elite, tribesmen and tribal elders of rival groups to arrange ceasefire and to restore normalcy to the agency.
Meanwhile, two more persons were killed and another 10 injured in fresh fighting between two rival groups in Baliskhel, bringing the death toll to 37. The news about bloody skirmishes were also reported from Pewar, Para Chamkani, Marrokhel, Terri and Mangal areas.
One of the deceased died in fresh clashes is identified as Mumtaz Hussain while name of the other could't be immediately ascertained. The critical injured have been shifted to hospitals where condition of some of them was stated to be precarious. Kurram agency was under the grip of armed clashes for the last eight days in which about 37 have been killed so far and around 60 injured.
