Government's pledge to reinstate judges lauded

Pakistan Bar Council, Vice Chairman Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig has welcomed the coalition government's pledge to restore the pre-November 2 judiciary in accordance with its Bhurban declaration. Talking to Business Recorder here on Wednesday, Baig said it was a matter of consolation for the legal fraternity that the coalition government was firm on the judges issues.
Baig said it was a good decision that the judges would be reinstalled through an executive order after adoption of a resolution by the National Assembly. He said the Aiwan-e-Sadr and Musharraf should respect verdict of the nation and sovereignty of the parliament. He said the PCO and the proclamation of emergency under which 60 judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts were sacked were extra constitution steps.
