Moot on advances in anaesthetic practice from April 25

The Pakistan Society for Anaesthesiologists in Lahore is holding its 10th annual conference on "recent advances in anaesthetic practice" on April 25 and 26 in a hotel. President of Society Professor Dr Shahida Khawaja and Secretary General Dr Liaqat Ali said on Thursday that all the improvement in surgical fields was because of development in the specialty of anaesthesia.
"Anaesthesiologists of Pakistan have accepted the challenge to run intensive care units. It is because of intensive care unit in health sector that all types of complicated surgeries are now carried out successfully," they added.
The conference will discuss the recent advances made in the field of anaesthesia and intensive care. Experienced anaesthesiologists and professors from all over Pakistan and abroad will deliver lectures. A two-day workshop on the latest techniques in anaesthesia will also be conducted.
The conference will be a great learning opportunity for medical personnel to update various modalities used in management of pain. It may be mentioned here that the Society for Treatment and Study of Pain (STSP), Lahore is also organising its second annual conference on "pain management" on April 27 and 28 in Lahore.
STSP President Professor Khalid Bashir said that millions of dollars all over the world had been wasted due to suffering from pain. He said STSP was trying hard to provide pain relief service to patients suffering from chronic and cancer pain. Until now there is no proper pain relief cantre for miserable cancer patients.
