Four persons including a girl and a dacoit were killed in separate incidents in different areas of metropolis here on Thursday. Police sources said that dacoit, Saleem Sarwar along with his two accomplices entered a house situated in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif police station and after taking all family members as hostage looted the valuables.
The sources said that police took prompt action and reached the spot after receiving information from one of their neighbours. They added that during exchange of firing, Saleem was killed while two of his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
They said that Nazia, a family member received several bullet wounds fired by dacoits when she put up resistance during the dacoity, succumbing to her injuries on the spot. In another incident, around half dozen looters looted jewellery, costing millions of rupees from a jewellery shop in the wee hours of Thursday evening at Gulshan-e-Iqbal in the jurisdiction of Mobina town police station.
Police sources said that at around 5:00pm six robbers entered Rabia Jewellers at Samama shopping centre and looted huge quantity of gold and silver ornaments. Police said that before they could reach the scene the looters had managed to flee.
They said that police had registered the cases and investigations have been started. Meanwhile, two Afghan citizens were shot dead in North Karachi industrial area by unidentified shooters. The bodies of Subhan and Abdur Rehman were shifted to Abbassi Shaheed hospital for autopsy.
