MD Tahir laid to rest

Lawyers on Monday discontinued court proceedings after 11.00 am to attend the funeral of senior bar member, M D Tahir who died a day earlier of heart failure.
Tahir was known due to his bold initiatives taken by lodging petitions on various significant issues, including against looting public exchequer, written of loans, construction of the Kalabagh Dam, for the betterment of labour laws and for jail inmates detained due to minor fines. He also participated in the bar politics and remained an active member of Punjab Bar Council.
Tahir is survived by four sons and two daughters. His two sons and a daughter are practising his father's profession. Former judges, judicial and law officers, senior bar members and elite of the city attended his funeral.
