Expo centre to be set up in Faisalabad

The Punjab government will set up a modern expo-centre at a cost of Rs 4 billion in Faisalabad. A master plan has been evolved for this purpose, Trade and Investment Secretary Tahir Raza Naqvi told a meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary and Chairman Steering Committee, Expo-centre, Javed Aslam, here on Monday.
Secretary Industries, DCO Faisalabad, Director General Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan, Chief Operating Officer Pakistan Expo-centres and Director General Faisalabad Development Authority were also present on the occasion.
Naqvi said the participants that a site for the centre in Faisalabad had been viewed. An agreement would be signed very soon between the Federal Government and the Punjab Government and the project would be completed with the mutual consultation. The proposed Faisalabad Expo-centre would be set up on the pattern of Lahore Expo-centre.
He said that Faisalabad is the Manchester of Pakistan where the volume of export is more than 5 billion dollar. He also said that traders' and industrialists' problems would reduce substantially after the establishment of Faisalabad Expo-centre.
