In a grand operation carried out on the directive of Nazim Saddar Town, Mohammed Dilawar, the town's anti-encroachment staff, removed hundreds of push carts, patharas, sun sheds and cabins.
They also confiscated 6 truck- loads of refrigerators, washing machines, split units, UPS and stabilisers kept outside the prescribed limit in Regal Chowk area and deposited them in the stores. The operation was carried out with police help at M.A. Jinnah Road, Plaza, Magazine Line, Preedy Street and around Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road, Mansfield Street, Dr Daudpota Road, Shahrah-e-Iraq and Empress Market in Saddar area.
TPO Saddar Dr Amir Shaikh, SSP Traffic Mohib Ali, TO Municipal Regulation Imran Mirza, DTO Mahmood Ghaznavi and area SHO were present on the occasion. During the anti-encroachment action, the staff had to face severe resistance from "Qabza" mafia.
It may be mentioned here that a large number of people residing in the area had made a written complaint to Nazim Saddar Town about unabated growth of encroachments and informed him about their problems and the inconveniences caused. Taking notice of the same the Town Nazim specially tasked Town Officer Municipal Regulation for elimination of encroachments. Meanwhile TO M.R. has asked the shopkeepers to discourage push carts and pataharas in front of their shops while concerned police have been asked to ensure that encroachments removed do not reappear.
