PBM directed to submit criteria for financial aid

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the authorities of Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) to submit parawise comments till April 28, over the criteria set for disbursement of financial aid to poor people. A single bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam heard a writ petition filed by Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti here on Tuesday.
The petitioner pleaded that he applied for financial aid but his application was rejected for unknown reasons. He said that PBM should be directed to provide details about the criteria set for financial aid to the poor segment of society.
A single bench comprising Justice Syed Qalbe Hassan also reserved judgement over an election writ petition filed by Tamana Bibi. The petitioner informed the court that about 3,000 female voters in two villages Jalozai and Sheikhan in PS-12 Nowshera were deprived of exercising their right of franchise by the village elders. Counsel for the petitioner Kowkab Iqbal advocate had maintained that it was violation of the Public Representation Acts. He prayed for re-election on this constituency.
