Singapore shares higher

Singapore share prices closed 0.21 percent higher on Wednesday during cautious bargain hunting, dealers said. The blue chip Straits Times Index (STI) rose 6.61 points to 3,193.84 on volume of 1.88 billion shares worth 1.99 billion Singapore dollars (1.49 billion US). Rising issues led decliners 380 to 257 with 934 stocks unchanged.
Banking shares were mixed, with DBS Group up 20 cents at 19.90 Singapore dollars, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp up eight cents at 8.68. Property heavyweights edged higher, with CapitaLand advancing two cents to 6.93. Singapore Telecommunications slipped four cents to 3.84 and Singapore Airlines finished six cents lower at 15.46.
