Setting up of Mardan university approved

The Chief Minister of NWFP, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, has given approval for the establishment of Mardan University for Arts, Science and Technology and, further, directed to set up a committee to work on the acquisition of land to materialise the plan.
The committee will comprise of chief planning officer, Anwar Khwaja, DRO Rehmat Ali Wazir, dean of Urdu University Karachi, Dr Zahid and Professor Fatah Muhammad. The decision to this effect was taken during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, at his office on Saturday.
The meeting was also attended by Professor Qaiser, Karachi University and Dr Zabita Khan Shinwari, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Amjid Afridi, Provincial Secretary of HEC, Khalid Khan, NWFP Director Science and Technology and other high ranking officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that his government wanted to promote quality education in the province and directed the concerned authorities to expedite efforts for the early land acquisition for the construction of the proposed University of Mardan. He expressed the hope that classes in the proposed university will likely to start from the next year. The chief minister was thoroughly briefed about the details of the campus and facilities on it.
