California wildfire forces hundreds to evacuate

A 350-acre wildfire amid blazing hot temperatures forced the evacuation of about 400 homes in the hills northeast of Los Angeles on Sunday, officials said. The cause of the fire, which started Saturday afternoon along a popular hiking trail, was still under investigation, said Elisa Weaver, a spokeswoman for the city of Sierra Madre, California.
The fire stranded 50 people celebrating a wedding at a mountain campground, although they were in no danger from the flames, officials said.
