US milk futures prices were mostly higher in thin trade on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's electronic platform early Monday as sharply higher corn prices were seen possibly curbing milk output in the months ahead, traders said.
At 9:52 am CDT (1452 GMT) in electronic trading, April was off 3 cents at $16.67 per cwt, May was bid a penny higher at $17.60 per cwt, and June was up 14 cents at $18.35.
Pit-traded milk had not yet traded. July was bid 4 cents higher at $18.25 per cwt. On Friday, CME cash block cheese was 0.25 cent higher at $1.9250 per lb and barrel cheese was unchanged at $1.88 per lb.
