The DIG Mardan Region, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, said on Monday that investigations into Mardan car bomb blast have entered crucial phase and the police are close to arrest the real culprits involved in the incident.
Addressing a gathering of Police Investigating Officials here at Police Lines, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah said that the investigators have gathered important evidences and pieces of motor car from the site that revealed that a Suzuki Mehran was used in the bomb blast.
However the Mardan police chief declined to disclose names of the people saying it might adversely affect the investigation process. He said that police responsibility has been increased after frequent terrorist attacks in the country. The DIG said unveiling the masterminds behind the Mardan bomb was a great challenge for the police. The DIG urged upon policemen to deal with the people in a decent way and laid great stress on increasing interaction between the people and the law enforcers.
He said that police couldn't play productive role in the society without peoples' support. He said that police negligence would not be tolerated and outstanding policemen would be awarded. The DIG was not satisfied over the performance of the investigation police and gave them one-month time to improve their working and record besides avoiding disturbing the peaceful citizens unnecessarily.
