SPSC (Amendment) Bill approved

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Monday approved the Sindh Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill as passed by the Sindh Assembly to further amend the Sindh Public Service Commission Act, 1989. This Act may be called the Sindh Public Service Commission (Amendment) Act, 2008, and come into force with immediate effect.
In the Sindh Public Service Commission Act, 1989, Clause (bb) of Section 2, shall be omitted. Throughout the Act, for the word "Governor", the word "Government" shall be substituted. In the said Act, for sub-section (2) of Section 4, the following shall be substituted:
"(2) The Chairman or a Member shall hold office for a single non-renewable tenure of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office; provided that the Government may, in its discretion, reconstitute the Commission and reappoint the Chairman and members within a period of thirty days.
