The Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Qamar Zaman Kaira met the delegation of Progressive International Pvt Ltd, a potential Australian investment company. The delegation comprised John Kirkwood, GM, Ali Obaid, Managing Director and Raymond Nock, IT consultant for the company.
During the meeting various issues regarding conceptual plan for EPZA (Export Processing Zone Authority) Tech Tower were discussed. The Minister said that Pakistan provides an excellent opportunity to investors, a deregulated IT sector and an enabling environment conducive to the investors needs.
Particularly with reliable availability of bandwidth, consistency in policies and security of capital, a win-win situation is available for the investors as well as the software and service companies, he added. However, the companies must come up with sound and viable financial model so that their requirements could be looked after and processed expeditiously, he said.
EPZA has dedicated six acres of land for the establishment of Tech Tower in its industrial zone in Landhi, Karachi. The proposed Tech Tower shall be developed on build, operate and transfer model and shall provide one million sq ft of office space to PSEB (Pakistan Software Export Board) registered IT companies. Estimated cost of the project at completion is US $100 million. In this regard Progressive International (Pvt) Ltd has submitted a proposal to EPZA.
