'Digital Cartography' course planned at GCU

The Department of Geography of GC University has planned to organise a refresher course in digital cartography. This course has been designed, while keeping in view the rising market demand as it would help in the promotion of sophisticated tools in the process of map making.
The Chairman Department of Geography, Professor Ali Iqtidar Mirza said here on Wednesday that the course would also include ARC view interface, Arcview operation, Global Positioning System (GPS), image data processing and would particularly help in the creation and presentation of map. The course would start from May 27, 2008.
Ali Iqtidar Mirza, while briefing about the GCU-UET academic collaboration in Geography told that the students after earning their BA/BSc (Hons) degree would be eligible for getting admission in MSc programme in the Community Development and Environment Planning offered by the Department of City and Regional Planning (CRP) University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET). He also stated that a comprehensive internship program for Spatial Planning in the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has also been started by his department.
